For the Epicurus: The 8th Manila Food and Beverage Expo

People with passion for all things food-related flocked together at the recently concluded 8th Manila Foods and Beverages Expo (MAFBEX) held last June 11-13, 2014 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila’s Tent A & B adjoining the Philippine Trade Training Center.

Over 300 booths exhibited the food and beverage industry’s best offerings. MAFBEX Events Management (MEM), a subsidiary of WORLDBEX Services International (WSI), the country’s leading exhibition and event organizer, in cooperation with De La Salle-College of St. Benilde (DLS-CSB), with part of the proceeds for the benefit of the ABS-CBN Foundation Inc., has once again proved that MAFBEX is indeed the country’s biggest and most-awaited food event as manifested by the 35,000 visitors that graced this year’s three-day event.

For the epicurean, eating is not just about gobbling down food and sipping mindlessly on drinks, what excites them are sensations that each flavor brings to his or her palate and the entire experience that comes with it. A hunger not satisfied merely by quantity, an epicurean is a chaser of extraordinary tastes and a spectrum of sensations brought about by passion-filled culinary masterpieces.

But what motivates an epicurean you ask. Well, it is the spark of curiosity that lives within their souls, a childlike wonder in both the frivolous and seemingly trivial of ingredients but are without a doubt essential in creating the most magical of dishes. For all that an epicurean yearns to experience, the thrust of this year’s MAFBEX is “Epicure”, dedicated to satiating the endless curiosity and search for the extraordinary flavors that an epicurean seeks to find.

For the opening and ribbon-cutting ceremonies, guests of honors in attendance were the Department of Agriculture’s Director Gazmin; Jill Ang, Exhibition Director of MEM; JR Ang, Marketing Director of MEM; and celebrity chef JP Anglo.

With over 300 booths from 200 countries around the world, the food and beverage expo presented a wide range of choices of consumables, ingredients and equipment catering to the growing needs of food enthusiasts, suppliers, distributors, entrepreneur and retailers.

Live cooking demonstrations also made the food expo even more exciting with various presentations by some of the metro’s top celebrity and seasoned chefs.

MAFBEX also boasted of pavilions, which showcased the best in both local and international F&B industries.

Truly the biggest gathering of the Philippine's food and beverage industry, MAFBEX puts the spotlight on various disciplines such as the talented ice carvers who go head to head with their creative and tedious creations.
