Born from the vision of architect and cultural advocate Danny Ko, the ARC Circle Collective was established in 2023 as a catalyst to elevate architectural practice beyond buildings—toward shaping culture, identity, and national pride. Conceived during Ko’s tenure as President of the Manila Metro Chapter and later District B1 Director of the United Architects of the Philippines, the initiative was formalized through a landmark memorandum of agreement with then UAP National President Richard Garcia and incoming ASEAN Architects Council Committee Chairman Kenneth Uy. This founding triumvirate established ARC Circle Collective as a loose but purpose-driven alliance of architects united by a shared social responsibility to uplift the profession and its impact on society.
At the center of this movement is the biennial ARC ICON Festival, a multi-platform event that celebrates architecture’s role in placemaking and nation-building. Its programs include ARC ICON Futura, a national competition empowering the next generation of architects; and ARC ICON Masterclass, featuring leading practitioners who share insights that inspire innovation and excellence.
A cornerstone initiative is the Search for ARC ICON 100, identifying the most significant examples of placemaking architecture across the Philippines. These are documented in the ARC ICON 100 Book, serving as both archive and public guide. Complementing this is the ARC ICON Tour, which transforms architecture into cultural destinations that people can experience firsthand.
Together, these initiatives create a powerful movement that extends beyond the profession—beautifying the built environment, strengthening cultural pride, encouraging public engagement, and promoting tourism and economic vitality. In 2026, this movement finds its home at WORLDBEX 2026, where ARC ICON becomes part of a larger platform dedicated to “Building Opportunities: Sustaining Lives.” Within this premier industry gathering, ARC ICON amplifies its mission—connecting architects, industry leaders, and the public in a shared vision for a more resilient and inspired nation.
